Intallation/Un-install
The PowerFolder system service can be installed/un-installed by opening its settings under "Preferences/Pro Settings/System Service". After enabling and shutting down the user interface the system service automatically installs and starts.
Configuration
To configure the system service simply start PowerFolder via the program icon. On startup it automatically stops the system service and starts up as client with full user interface.
Now it is possible to configure PowerFolder and close it. The changed settings are mirrored to the system service instance and take effect after the system service is restarted. PowerFolder automatically starts the system service if it is enabled after closing/quitting the user interface.
Note on Windows Vista / Windows 7
To install the system service on Windows Vista PowerFolder has be run as Administrator. Right click on the PowerFolder program icon and choose "Run as Administrator". Install the system service as usual and close PowerFolder.
If the UAC (User access control) is disabled it is not required to run PowerFolder as Administrator. On a standard Windows Vista installation the UAC is enabled by default.
If PowerFolder complains about a running instance make sure to always run PowerFolder as administrator.
Troubleshooting
If the service refuses to start after the PowerFolder user interface has been shut down please try to start it manually from the Windows control panel / Administration / Services.
If this still does not work please manually copy the PowerFolder configuration directory to the all users profile directory.
