Security Permissions

From PowerFolder Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Preface

PowerFolder offers the possibility to restrict access to folders. It's possible to control which user gets access to a folder. The permission is set PER user (and not per computer). For computers were no user is logged in the default permission applies. The permissions can be maintained in the members tab of a folder.

Available permissions

The following permissions are available:

  • No access
  • Read
  • Read and Write
  • Admin (Read, Write and Invite)
  • Owner

Default Permission

The default permission is applied when no user is logged in at a computer. By default it is set to "Admin" for backward compatibility and easier setup. If you require to fully maintain the permission schema it's recommended to set the default permission to "No access". Before explicitly set the permission for every user of the folder you wish to keep.

Note: Removing users from a folder is only possible when the default permission is set to "No access".
