Private peer-to-peer networking

From PowerFolder Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

PowerFolder is based on our own peer to peer technology, which was the result of a scientific work of one of our founders in 2003.

We do not use any existing network but we build our own, this is used to connect the clients which need to know each other, but the encrypted traffic itself is not spread in this network, but directly send from your client to its destination.

Two more functions are available to extend the security and the comfort:

  • The connection between fixed IPs can be exclusive, this means that you can add a range of IPs (or a single one) which are the only one to which your PowerFolder client is connected.
  • With the server version came up a new feature: The network ID this allows you to completely split your network from the PowerFolder network. So you truly have your own private network.
