Limited connectivity
From PowerFolder Wiki
Limited connectivity means, that no incoming connections from the Internet are possible. Some users encounter a connectivity warning using PowerFolder. The reason: Firewall and routers often block incoming connection. This prevents direct (peer-to-peer) connections between the computers.
Thumb rule: To get the Internet synchronization correctly running you need at least ONE machine with full (non-limited) connectivity. Machines with limited connectivity can only connect through relay servers, which slow down the connection speed.
How to fix the limited connectivity problem
1. Be friends - Friendlist
Use the PowerFolder friendlist. Computers that should connect to each other have to be mutual friends. PowerFolder only connects to friends! Quickstart guide: Adding a friend
2. Setup your Firewall
Port 1337 TCP has to be open for out and inbound connections.
3. Setup your Router (Port-Forward)
The Port 1337 (TCP) has also to be open in your routers firewall. You additionally need to setup a Port-Forward to the machine, that is using PowerFolder behind the router. This website helps to setup port-forwarding on the most routers.
4. (Optional) Become Supernode - Use a DynDNS hostname.
The DynDNS system makes it possible to easily find machines on the Internet. Computers with DynDNS account are called "Supernodes" in PowerFolder. Please enter your DynDNS in PowerFolder under Preferences/Dyndns.
5. Test your connectivity
You can use this online port scanner to check your setup. Enter your IP/DynDNS hostname and port 1337, press go. The scanner should return: "The host your.dyndns.org (or IP) has a service running on port 1337 ()", if not your firewall/router setup might not be correct.
