  1. If you are not already running Java 5 or higher on your computer, download Java and install it.
  1. Download PowerFolder and start the installation by opening the installation file.
  1. Select your language and press Ok
  1. Close other applications and press next
  1. Accept the terms of the License Agreement and press next
  1. If you are interested in the latest release notes you can read them otherwise just click next.
  1. Select the components you want to install or just click next for standard installation.
  1. Select a location for the installation and click install.
  1. Finish the installation.

    1. Click the Wizard icon (second from the left)

    2. Select “Mirror a folder”

    3. Select the Folder you want to synchronize and click next.

    4. Choose a way  to send the invitation:

     

    4.1     Send by email.  

    Enter the email you want to send the invitation to. And click next, your email client pops up and you just need to send the email

    4.2      Save as file.

    Choose a location where you want to save the invitation to, so you can send it later to somebody (by usb-stick…).

    4.3      Via PowerFolder now.

    You need to have the other user in your friend list to use this feature ( See Quickstart: Add a Friend). If you have already a friend in your list just select one from the list. And the invitation will be send to your Friend.

    If you got an invitation file just double click on it and follow the steps below.

    If you got an invitation via PowerFolder just follow the steps below

     

    Within PowerFolder a popup shows up. On this Panel you should...

     

    1. Select a Synchronisation Profile from the drop down menu.
    2. Select the location on which the Folder should be stored on your computer.
    3. Click “OK”

    1. Go to the Friends list in the Navigation tree on the left side.
    2. click “Find Users”
    3. Enter the name of the User you search for and press “search”
    4. Select the user you searched for from the list and add him to your friend list by right click on him/her.

    1. Register at the Online Storage

    2. Download and install PowerFolder

    3. Start PowerFolder and enter your login

    4. Choose Folder to be mirrored

    Before you can use the Online Storage you need to setup
    at least one managed Folder on your local machine.
    Navigate to "Online Storage" in the program and press "Mirror Folder".

    5. Ready

    If asked if you want to add the Online Storage to your friendlist
    please do so.

    If you want to add another folder to the Online Storage just:

    1. Go to the Online Storage in the navigation tree and press "Mirror Folder".

    2. Select the folder you want to mirror.

     

    How to share your folder with others via the Online Storage?

    1. Invite the other users to your local folder, they will begin to exchange data
    with the Online Storage.

    All files that get backed up by the Online Storage and are accessible via its web interface.

    1. Click the Online Storage icon in the program and press "Open Browser" (Alternatively your can point your browser directly to access.powerfolder.com)

    2. Login with your email and password.

    3. Choose a folder from the list on the left side.

    4. Pick a file you would like download from the right side.

    You can do a lot of things in Powerfolder by click on items with the right mouse button.

    Take a few minutes to check out our synchronisation profiles, they are the key to make PowerFolder work in the way you need it.
