Tuesday 10. of February 2009 PowerFolder 3.1.6 released
Dear PowerFolder users,
We have just released version 3.1.6 of PowerFolder. It contains many important bugfixes, especially when working in LAN environment. You will find also many convenient improvements in this version.
The release notes:
New features and improvements
- Auto-cleanup of downloads is now turned on by default.
- Speed improvements of file up- and downloads.
- Activation wizard now clearly indicates that account creation is mandatory.
- Added start menu link to Wiki documentation.
- Invitation can now also be sent to own email address only.
- User interface is now more responsive during many file transfers.
- Reduced the overhead traffic on transfer failures.
- Empty recycle bin is now faster.
- Renamed "Setup" to "New" in toolbar.
Bugfixes
- System service now correctly starts when running as default user.
- List of recently completed downloads do not longer leave temporary files open.
- Fixed race condition that caused files to get moved into recycle bin.
- Checks actual file on disk before moving file into recycle bin during remote deletion synchronization.
- Stuck downloads should not longer occur.
- Fixed crash of automatic files requestor which caused the sync to stop.
- Manual sync now requests all incoming files instead of 10 only.
- Now completely excludes ".PowerFolder" meta-directories from sync, e.g. when setting up a PowerFolder inside a PowerFolder.
- Installer does not longer overwrite PowerFolder.l4j.ini memory settings files.
- Fixed duplicate system service entry under Preferences/Pro Settings.
- Many other minor bugfixes.
Sunday 01. of February 2009 False virus warning
In the last days some users reported to us that their antivirus software detected that the PowerFolder uninstaller is a trojan (Dropper.Gen)
We instantly send our uninstaller to various antivirus software producers to check if this might be true.
The answer was clearly that this was an false positive warning, and that the problem will be fixed in one of the next antivirus updates.
Avira Antivir gave us the information that this will be in their case in the next week. Some other software/distributions might take a little longer.
To make it clear you can completely ignore this warning.
If you want to double check this:
Zip the file password protected (most antivirus producers prefer this)
Send it to your antivirus software producer and let it review, we made the experience that we got answers within a few hours.

Welcome to 2009!
The PowerFolder team wishes you the best luck for the upcoming months in 2009 and we would like to thank you for the trust and feedback you gave us in 2008.
Of course we will continue to improve PowerFolder in this year. Expect the following great new additions to the PowerFolder solution:
- PowerFolder Server, Online Backup and Sync solution - all centrally managed
- The brand new client user interface comes with version 4.0
- Great new adminstration features for companies and resellers
- Branding options for our solutions - PowerFolder presented in your own look

We have also added and improved our documentation wiki in the last weeks.
Some users have encountered problems when running PowerFolder (v.3.1.5) as system service. Important trouble shooting hints have been added to its system service wiki article.

Release 3.1.5 of PowerFolder is near and open for testing.
The Release Candidate 2 of 3.1.5 is available at the development
download location.
We skipped 3.1.4 for the public as it only contained special custom features.
Please feel free to test the release candidate and give us feedback (chat, email, forum)

Friday 28. of November 2008 Online Storage migration
Dear PowerFolder Online Storage user,
The system is undergoing a migration/maintenance this weekend starting from tomorrow 28th of November till the 30th.
During that time the Online Storage may only be reduced or completely un- available. The PowerFolder LAN or Internet peer-to-peer synchronization is not affected by this maintenance.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
