Tuesday 17. of November 2009 Datacenter upgrade - partial downtime
Good morning,
we are currently upgrading our datacenter. Many new users joined our service since release of PowerFolder 4.0. This made the upgrade necessary. Some users may encounter login problems and/or a disconnected online backup service. We'll try to keep the downtime as short as possible.
Planned maintenance time: 03:00 am till 04:00 pm CET on 17-Nov-2009.

Yes, we released another hotfix.
Grab it at the download page.
We also released a new OPEN SOURCE version of PowerFolder (Basic)!
You can download it at sourceforge.net,
but we recommend to download the free PowerFolder Pro version
from our website.
Only the Pro version encrypts all traffic between computers.
The open source version lacks this important feature.

Thursday 05. of November 2009 PowerFolder 4.0.1 hotfix release available
Good day!
We just released hotfix version 4.0.1 of PowerFolder.
It smooths out some issues of the initial version 4 and contains important bugfixes. We recommend to upgrade to this version if you are running PowerFolder 4.0.0.
The changes in detail:
New features
- User interface can now be locked. Unlock with PowerFolder account email and password.
Improvements
- Added less I/O and CPU intense transfer mode "Backup Source (once a hour)".
- Automatic chooses less I/O and CPU intensive transfer modes on large folders (>10.000 files).
- Slightly reduced I/O and CPU while scanning folders for changes.
- System service auto-update now also tries to update windows installation path of PowerFolder.
- Configuration can now be the same for ALL users on a computer.
- Added Spanish installer texts.
- Slightly changed license texts.
- Updated splash screen.
Bugfixes
- Now correctly migrates configuration/settings from 3.X version on upgrade to version 4.
- Installer does not longer remove program shortcuts on upgrade.
- Correctly detects disconnected drives (again) for example external HDDs, NAS or USB sticks.
- Fixed mass delete protection detection.
- Fixed wrong "Unsynchronized folder" problem although folders were actually in sync.
- Fixed memory leak on big file lists.
- Filename problems now show the affected filename.
- Corrected logo in about box.
- Minor other bugfixes.
Important note for 3.X users
If you upgrade from a existing PowerFolder version keep in mind, that folders are now visible globally for each account. This means all computers using the same account will see all folders. We recommend to register new accounts for each user. Use the rights system to restrict the access to certain computers and users.

Monday 26. of October 2009 PowerFolder Server 1.0.3 released
Good evening,
We just released PowerFolder Server 1.0.3.
It is now fully compatible with client version 4.0.
It also contains many useful improvements and a
web picture gallery and music player.

New Features
- Fully compatible with 4.0 client release.
- Flexible storage packages / quotas for users. Not longer has preset values (10, 50, etc.) but is integer value.
- Configuration of starting online storage package for new registered accounts (e.g. trials).
- Web: Now all (also non-backed up) PowerFolders of a user appear under "My PowerFolders".
- Web photo gallery added.
- Web music player added.
- Registration system added. Can be turned off.
- Linux tar-gz distribution available.
Improvements
- Several performance improvements on cloud installations with large number of user.
- Improved performance of web interface. Utilizes browser cache when possible.
- Linux start script by default prevents running as root.
- Allows more flexible directory structure on server side.
- Web: Pagination for long folder lists added.
- Updated license text.
