If I've got two computers that have no static IP number or hostname (because they are behind a firewall with NAT, or because the ISP doesn't provide static IP numbers, or not without paying a premium), can I synchronise folders between these two computers without backing them up online? I couldn't seem to make this work. It only seemed possible to synchronise to this folder after I'd enabled online backup.
If this is possible, how do I set it up?
Thanks - Rowan
please take look at this :

in some cases PowerFolder need to have ports open
The connectivity to
PowerFolder servers (our or your own ) is better.

Thanks for your reply. I can't change the firewall settings. These systems are on customer sites, and the customers have their own IT policies which I can't change. In fact if the machines could talk to each other directly I would not need PowerFolder - it is to work when incoming connections are not possible that I started looking at it. So I recognise that I need to go via some external relay server - currently I'm using yours.
My question was - does your server and software have a way of relaying connections between two machines neither of which can accept incoming connections WITHOUT backing up all the files to your server? Or do I have to back them all up to your server?
Thanks - Rowan
Dear Rowan
Powerfolder in general is not forcing to use the online storage, just uncheck the teh create online copy setting on folder creation. if you have a folder backuped already you can remove it from the online storage by logging into the online storage webinterface and select the folder you wish to remove, afterwards press settings and than remove.
A general suggestion:
Take a look at this:

The PowerFolder server is replacing our online storage in all aspects also for relay and http tunnel this can lead to strong speed improvments depending where you/your clients are located. Of course you can use it with the free clients and you can brand the webinterface.
