Hello,

What is the difference between Powerfolder Pro Home and Home R ?
If one purchases the lifetime version it comes with 2 yrs of support and upgrades, but how much is it to renew support & upgrades after 2 years?

Is there a business version with online storage included?
If not, as long as I buy 1 business and 1 home I assume I can use the online storage from both right?

I like the idea of the online storage for some backup because it encrypts the stored data. I'd love to see this as a feature of the pro version in general... that way we can store it on our own web server but have security in case the web host is snooping around...

I thought I'd post this in the forums so others with similar questions can find help as well.

Dear canuck

PowerFolder home r is simply the reseller version:
The reseller can order it with his discount for the clients email but gets billed on his.

The business version has by default no onlinestorage included since a lot of business clients prefer to not use external locations for their sync or have an own powerfolder server, anyway you still can order a online storage package if you wish to use it.

IMPORTANT: The home version is a 5 computer licnese this means you can sync up to 5 computers and the included online storage. You will NOT need one business licnese and one home licnese unless you want to sync 6 computers (5 from home 1 business)

The online storage can be used by all computers you invite.

OK, I didn't know if I could buy the home (5 license) and use one at the office...

And what happens after the 2 yrs, how do I renew support/upgrades - just buy a new one or is there a separate support agreement?

Ok i guess i was getting you wrong normally this is not allowed in this case you will need to order a home and a business.

After two years the online storage will expire also will the updates, than you can decide if you order an online storage account, a new license or do nothing. anyway you will be able to use powerfolder direct data exchange as long as you wish

I was pretty clear one was used for business and you did mention business in your previous post about not needing the business license unless I want 5 home and one business... my use would be 1 at the office and 1 at home. In fact I might install another one on my web server eventually so I can backup the site.

Hopefully you'll implement encryption soon.

Also will have to see about getting java installed on my web server (centos).

Lastly regarding updates, I don't quite get the Powerfolder Pro business license model.. I can pay $30 per year with full updates. Or I can pay $78 for lifetime use but only 2 yrs of updates. After 2 years in order to get updates I have to pay the full $30 or $78 again? I was hoping there was a less expensive support/update renewal plan. Otherwise I would be better off just paying the $30 per year wouldn't I? Maybe I'm not understanding.

So if it wasn't for the online storage I'd be better off just paying $30x3 for 3 business licenses, except that I wouldn't get the online storage. Or I could pay $30x2 and then buy a home license and get the storage included to share, which would still be a bit cheaper. Do I have it right? I was hoping there was some kind of business bundle with storage... thanks for all your help. There's a purchase coming at the end of this all I hope!

There are new a pricing model coming up soon which will offer also a 5 computer licnese with online storage for business use.

We have some users which are now renewing their software and had no problems: remember you will be able to use the clients for ever, if you need support or updates you can can just order another license or online storage package and we will find a way to make this work for you, until now we had no problems with finding a solution for our clients which they found acceptable, also there will be always an renewal discount of 20%

But in general we cannot make promises how things will be in 2 years
