powerfolder seems to be a huge memory hog if u have thousands of files to sync, this is most notable when lets say you reformat and resync a folder for the first time. so, how can i minimize powerfolders memory footprint, i know this is in large due to java, but sometimes i simply have to kill the process and restart later, for instance, while i'm gaming.

thanks

The memory use of PowerFolder is directly related to the number of files managed.
The size or number of the folders don't matter.

The following wiki article is about changing the memory settings for PowerFolder:
http://www.powerfolder.com/wiki/Memory_configuration

You might want to play around with these values and optimize these for your needs.
Please watch out for "OutofMemoryExceptions" in log or crashes if you set the memory limit too low.

For v4.0 we plan to rework the way PowerFolder manages the filelists. This will have a direct impact on the memory use hopefully reducing it drastically.

Best regards,
