This is about to drive me buggy.
OS is XP Pro
I have 2 computers at a remote site. PF set up on 1 of the computers to Sync 2 folders, 1 folder on each computer. PF is also installed on a 3rd computer through WAN.
I have mapped the folder on the computer which has PF installed, to Point to the Folder on the computer which does not have PF installed.
During the folder setup within PF, both folders are easily seen and setup goes along with no issues. The transfer mode is set to Backup (Source) for both folders. With Daily Sync time of 22:00 and 23:00 hours. 22:00 on the computer which has PF installed and 23:00 on the other computer.
I ran through a few tests with letting PF run automatically and things seemed fine over the next few days. Both folders were being correctly synced with a computer #3 which is WAN.
Then I started it as a service to see how it would work.
PF will sync the folder of the computer on which it is installed, but will not sync the folder on the computer which has a mapped drive. I have tried about everything I can think of over the last week. Changing all kinds of options, ensuring permissions are set correctly, etc... All to no avail.
The files are not getting updated on the mapped drive.
I can go into the computer, run the PowerFolder.exe file and PF will work ok.
I may have to manually publish the list but it will run fine not as a service.
I really did not wish to install PF on 2 computers which are physically side by side. I thought single install on one computer would be fine. Just handling 2 folders. within a lan.
But if that is what is necessary, I guess I will have to do it.
I am guessing it is the Service which is not picking up the mapped drive.
I have about 3 more days to work on this before the 30 day trial runs out.
I really would like to get this up and running smoothly.
Any thoughts?
Is this a limitation of the java service wrapper?
The ability of the PowerFolder.exe to handle this smoothly, leads me to think of the jsw itself and not PF.
