Ok, so the behavior of PF changed with the 3.1.2 release and I didn't realize the impacts until I removed and re-added PF on one computer to help with a different issue.

My original configuration has a mirroring set for my My Documents folder under windows. It used to work fine. But when I had to reset the configuration, I was unable to select the My Documents folder...the screen would show "WARNING this directory cannot be written to" and whatever I did would not allow me to reestablish the sync.

I narrowed the problem down to the read-only attribute on the My Documents, My Pictures, My Videos etc. folders under windows. Now apparently windows does not recognize the read-only attribute on folders and the attribute is non-changable using Explorer. You can however turn-off the read-only setting with no ill side effects, as outlined in this knowledge base article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326549. I simply did this for My Documents and all other immediate subfolders. (run dir /ar to find them within My Documents). Amazingly, I was able to re-sync my folders! Be sure to stop and re-start PF before creating the sync sets again.

I hope this helps someone else. Something changed in PF that made it sensitive to the read-only folder attribute, so it sould be looked into as a possible regression from some other code change.

Best,

Mike
