Hi,
I am trying to get past my company firewall via the tunnel configuration - but I can't connect to my online storage. I have a Mac with OS X 10.4.9 and I am using the Java client. I tried also with a Vista Machine and the Windows client without success. I entered the firewall name and port in the tunnel dialog.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Michael

Did you try with just directly connect, within the tunnel dialog?
without any name or port?
Please note that in some cases the first connect needs some time.

Yes, I tried that. Is it okay, that I just have Online Storage in my friends list? Or do I need to have another Computer on the list?

No its ok for now you can add the computers you would like to add later.
May i ask which version of powerfolder you use?
Do you have admin rights on your network?
How long did you wait in the beginning? Without the porxy data entered.
After entering the proxy data are you sure that you need no password?

What you also might try:
Go to general settings
Activate advanced settings
Go to advanced settings
Disable automatic port
Enter the port you used for the proxy

No, I have no admin rights on the network - not even on my Mac. Unfortunately. But the Java client works.

I tried to set the port to 8080 (which is our http proxy) and get no connection with firewall settings or without.

I am using Powerfolder 3.1.1

I waited once about 20 Minutes to connect - without success.

For the http proxy I usually need no password, I will try to use my system password.

Our firewall seems to be very restrictive, but what can be wrong if the traffic is tunneled through http?

Thanks for your help - Michael

To make the http tunnel work you should not change any setting there.
Do you use some software firewall (/windows/kaspersky/symatec/...) which might block powerfolder from access the network resources on your system?

Perhaps your http traffic gets routed and filtered somewhere.
I will talk with some Developer about this.

No, there is no software firewall on the Mac. Does it make sense to check the proxy settings in Safari and Firefox? Or does Powerfolder ignore them? As far as I know there's a Virus scanner on http (Aladdin).

Please make sure you have entered the correct HTTP proxy you require to surf the Internet in PowerFolder under Preferences/Pro Settings/HTTP Tunneled Connection.

The proxy settings are exaktly the same as in Firefox: <Name>, Port 8080, no login. I also tried the IP number - without success.
