How do I remove a folder member?

When I go to the list of members in a folder and I right click a member, I get an option to "Remove Friend".
I selected this option.
The result was that it removed my friend from my global friends list but did not remove my friend from that specific folder.

What am I doing wrong?

I want to keep that friend on my global friends list, but just remove him from a specific folder.

Dear Horizon
The Problem is that you cannot remove a user from a Folder right now. We are preparing a rights management which will allow this but it is not in the current (3.0.2)version.

Do you have an ETA for adding this functionality?

I'd very much like to see this, too.
Thanks.

ETA is 3-4 month.

I was hoping the next update would include this.
But alas 3.1.3 doesn't.

Yeah. I asked a member to disconnect the other day by removing their folder. Instead they deleted all the files. - 2000 of them.
Fortunately I had a backup.
The facility to remove a member is a fundamental requirement. But where is it?

This documentation explains how to stop the Online Storage from backing up your files:

Due to it's peer-to-peer origin PowerFolder currently does not offer the possibility to remove a member centrally. This will be solved with the upcoming versions of PowerFolder as we recently introduced a central user-account system which adds ACLs (Access-contol lists) per user.

Two workarounds are possible at the moment:
1) Advise the member to remove the folder via the PowerFolder interface only.
2) Re-created the folder and invite all members except the member you want to remove.

When you say "re-create the folder" can you please be more specific. Is it just a matter of removing the folder and then re-inviting, or will old invitations remain active and cause past members to be able to access the folder again?

1) Remove the folder
2) Setup a new folder with the same local base directory
3) Re-invite all members.

Old invitations cannot be used to access the new folder.

Hi,

PowerFolder 4.0 Beta has been released.
It's now possible to remove computer/users from a folder:
http://www.powerfolder.com/beta.html

1) Simply open the members tab of a folder.
2) Grant selected members access permission (e.g. Read/Write)
3) Change the default permission to "No access". This removes all computers without permission.

Best regards,
Christian

I can't figure this out. I open the folders tab on the left, and the members tab on the right. Under "members" I see my three computers, and all three are listed as "owner" under "permissions." If I click on the "members" link under the folders tab, the permissions column on the right changes to "read/wright (default)" for all three computers. (I have "read/write" set as the default permission.) If I try to reset the permisions for any of the computers, I click and it returns to saying "owner" again.
