Hello!!!
I'm trying to run PowerFolder (v3.0.0) from a USB drive in a computer that has no java installed, but i have the JDK installed in the USB drive! Is there any way possible to specify the folder to look for where the Virtual Machine is, in the .ini file or other place????

For example i can do that with eclipse by adding this to the ini file:

-vm
..\UtilsDirectory\jdk1.6.0_03\bin\javaw

I tried that already but didn't work :(
Besides, is there any way to make PowerFolder keep its settings (username, shared folders, etc) in a file in the directory where is running to make it even more portable???

Thanks for your time!

HI neo
interesting way to use PowerFolder, but i think there might be major problems with that.
I will ask if it is possible but right now i see already 5 really major problems with that.

But of course i will ask our development team if its possible.
May i ask on which systems you want to use PowerFolder like this?

Best Regards
Bernhard Rutkowsky

So we checked the possiblities:
The configurations files are currently stored under
c:/users/username/.powerfolder (hidden dir)
You can duplicate it (the cfg) to your installation directory there are stored all folders.
The problems are:
the system is giving the information where the Java installation is running
your unique identification cannot be moved
your friendlist can not be moved
USB is not supported yet completely

But if you would like to discuss the advantages or have some ideas about this
feel free to join us at irc: server: Quakenet channel:#powerfolder.

The idea seems to be interesting.
